
Prof. Ron Berger has worked with EL Education since its inception in 1992, joining as a full-time staff member in 2004. While a member of the EL staff, he worked in a range of roles, including School Designer, Regional Director, and Chief Academic Officer. Ron is the author or coauthor of 7 EL Education books, established and led the publications and multimedia divisions, and created and led the EL Research Advisory Board. As a writer, speaker, and representative in policy meetings, he brings the mission and model of EL Education to broad audiences within and beyond the U.S. He was a member of the National Commission on Social, Emotional, and Academic Development.
Ron did his graduate work at Harvard Graduate School of Education and later taught a course there based on the website Models of Excellence, which he founded and continues to lead along with EL Education and Harvard colleagues. Models of Excellence houses the world’s largest collection of high-quality PreK-12 student work.
Prior to joining the EL staff, Ron worked for over 25 years as a public-school teacher and master carpenter in rural Massachusetts. He received the Autodesk National Teacher of the Year Award.
